I Need, I Want

Angela Burks & Mandy Rogers Horton

December 3, 2011 - January 28, 2012

Twist Art Gallery

This is the second shared exhibition and first joint installation by Burks and Rogers Horton who have been acquainted for five years. The artists share an interest in the relationship of the physical, psychological and spiritual worlds. In the newest works, both artists explore the psychological impact of repetition whether in decorative pattern, interior design, or advertising.

Julia Smith

December 3, 2011 - January 28, 2012

In Twist Etc.

Julia Smith grew up in Houston, Texas and attended the University of Saint Thomas where she studied history.  Her drawings are an effort to respond to the generalizing, obscuring, and grouping impulses of history by perpetuating the relevance of individuals through the act of reproduction and transformation into artistic expression.

Symmetry Breaking Being

Andy Harding

November 5 - 26, 2011

Twist Art Gallery

Andy Harding spent much of his childhood wandering the woods of the 100 acre farm where he grew up in west Tennessee.  It wasn't until his senior year in college that he took a serious interest in art while enrolled in an elective 3D design course.  Since that time, he has been thoroughly engaged in object making...from lamps and furniture to handmade artist books, collage, and wood and metal sculpture.  His work has been exhibited in solo and group shows at the Nashville Public Library, Zeitgeist Gallery, San Diego Art Institute, Kingston Gallery, Boston, MA, and as part of Art Chicago.  Harding completed a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Belmont University in 1997 and recently relocated to Nashville after living in Chicago for the past six years.

Artist's Statement

Attempts to fix nature into one particular arrangement rarely last.  Change and transformation are the essence of nature.  The structures and symmetries generated by the changes are secondary and fleeting.  I am interested in the confluence of such forms...continuously breaking into and out of being.

Kelly Kerrigan

November 5 - 26, 2011

In Twist Etc.

I’m Kelly Kerrigan- a Mixed Media Artist from Nashville. I was born in 1974 and Kung Fu Fighting was the #1 song. I love candy, but it hurts my tummy. Since 2003 I have owned and operated TrampLamps.com where I make & sell hand made Lamps crafted from Womens Under-skimpies. I also like to paint forest creatures intermingling with Pop Culture. I love and miss my Husband Paul who is most likely somewhere in the universal neural net exploring quantum singularities. He had Cancer and passed away on December 18th, 2010. He was the coolest person I have ever met and will inspire me for the rest of my life. I live and work in my South Nashville home studio with my Little Boy Milo Sparks, who looks just like his daddy. I hope you like & laugh at my Artwork. This is want I want to do.
